Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my concern about the impact of TikTok videos on the brain, particularly among young people.
In recent years, TikTok has become one of the most popular social media platforms worldwide, with millions of users sharing and watching short videos every day. While some of these videos can be entertaining and informative, there is growing evidence that they can also have negative effects on mental health and well-being.
Studies have shown that excessive use of TikTok and other social media can lead to addiction, anxiety, depression, and other psychological disorders. Moreover, the constant stimulation and distraction from scrolling through videos can impair cognitive function, memory, and attention span, especially among adolescents whose brains are still developing.
As a society, we need to raise awareness about the potential risks of TikTok videos and other digital media, and promote healthier habits and alternatives. This includes encouraging young people to limit their screen time, engage in physical activities, read books, and socialize face-to-face with friends and family.
I urge policymakers, educators, parents, and media companies to take this issue seriously and work together to promote a more balanced and mindful use of technology. Our mental health and well-being depend on it.
Sincerely,
Juan Carlos
